The main airshow season is about to start in Europe and the squads are using every chance possible to prepare their formation flights for displays. Hangar 7 based Flying Bulls, founded in 1999, are no exception and this year they used the Edvard Rusjan’s Airport in Maribor as their week long training base to prepare their programe. The fleet using the facillities of Slovenia’s second largest airport included seven aircrafts: two Alpha Jets, Chance Vought F4U-4 ‘Corsair’, North American B-25J Mitchell, Lockheed P38-L, Bell Cobra TAH-1F and BO105 CB (you can find out more about the aircrafts on the Flying Bulls homepage).
As the training started on monday and lasted for five days, a company Tele Ho d.o.o. invited a small group of photographers on friday to attend the training and we were given a chance to photograph the event from a few exclusive locations on apron and runway. I have to say I have been to many events myself (mostly motorsport events) and I must admit that this was one of the best organized by far. The guidance, advice and tips from the experienced spotters, welcome gifts, breakfast and lunch… I just wish there were more people like the team that put this all together and I hope there will be more events like this.
Now, please enjoy the small selection of photos from the last training day and feel free to share the story if you like it.
